Invisalign retainers can help you straighten your teeth for your big day. The best part? No one needs to know.

For many people, their wedding day is a day to remember,  But when you’re the center of attention and the cameras are flashing, looking your best is crucial. Beyond the perfect dress or tux, it’s important that you love your smile.

Achieving a straighter smile has long been associated with braces. But traditional braces can be costly and sometimes, even painful. For adults especially, they can make the wearer self-conscious. That’s why for many, corrective retainers like Invisalign can be an ideal way to ensure that their teeth look perfect on the big day.

The Invisalign Difference

You’ve probably seen the ads, but you may still be wondering: what exactly is Invisalign, and how does it work? Invisalign is an alternative to braces that uses removable, clear plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. These retainers are custom-fitted to your teeth. The length of treatment varies by person, but most adult patients wear them for 9 to 15 months — less than the time it takes to straighten your teeth with braces.

The aligners are created using a comprehensive 3D image of your teeth and jaw, generated from impressions, photos, and x-rays of your mouth. The 3D image becomes the foundation for a personal treatment plan that will gradually straighten your smile. The 3D image will even show you how each consecutive set of retainers will adjust your bite! The retainer should be worn throughout the day, except when you eat, brush, and floss.

Invisalign offers a number of benefits — the best of which is convenience. Invisalign cuts down on the number of dental appointments you need. You can receive each set of retainers by mail or all at once, and because there are no painful wires or brackets to pop loose, you will never need an emergency appointment. The retainers are smooth and removable, which means that they won’t cause problems for patients who play sports or musical instruments. It also means that there are no off-limit foods. Simply take out your retainers, and brush and floss as you normally would.

Many of us feel self-conscious about our smiles. Invisalign lets you adjust your smile gradually and quietly, without the fanfare of braces. And while everyone’s treatment plan is a little different, Invisalign is typically less expensive than braces, and most dental insurance plans will cover them.

Invisalign — Is It Right for You?

Invisalign is incredibly effective, but there’s a chance that it might not be the right fit for you. If you only need mild to moderate tooth realignment, Invisalign is an excellent option. More severe maxillofacial issues might require advanced orthodontic procedures. However, common conditions like overbite, gaps, or overcrowdedness between teeth are easily treatable with aligners.

Generally, as long as your teeth are in good health and you don’t have cavities or gum disease, you will be a good candidate for Invisalign.
